I agree with you in some aspects. No one should be forced to be something else, totally true. However I do have vintage values and I would have loved to live in that time. I do know some things were wrong, but personally I would have loved to live during the late fifties.

My hair is layered, with my bang pieces being about 5 inches, and the longest being about 7.5 inches, so a little below shoulder length. I replicate these setting patterns, but it never looks too right. Would you recommend pin curls or foam rollers or those spiky Velcro rollers you have for the length of my hair?

Mad Men was actually set in the 60's. The early 60's clothes were still a lot like the 50's clothes. I still remember my mother's dresses with full skirts and crinolines. I wore Shift style dresses to school in the later 60's. Those styles have come back too.

I lived in the fifties and it was pretty good. Her rendition of the role of women is incorrect. First of all what is wrong with a woman staying home and rising children? It is the rule of nature. Women could go to college and have careers. My mother went to college and was a teacher for a while, but she preferred to stay home with her four children. My father never beat her and always asked her advice on decisions.
